Layer-2 Scalability Solutions

Layer-2 (L2) scalability solutions are essential to Alemio’s mission of reducing transaction costs and increasing throughput, especially for users who want to interact with DeFi applications without incurring high gas fees.

Optimistic Rollups

Alemio implements Optimistic Rollups as one of its primary L2 scalability technologies. Optimistic Rollups bundle multiple transactions into a single proof and process them off-chain. These proofs are then periodically posted to the main chain, significantly reducing gas fees and enabling faster transaction finality. Optimistic Rollups are particularly advantageous for DeFi applications, allowing Alemio users to execute transactions quickly and at a fraction of the cost of Layer-1 solutions.

zk-Rollups

Zero-knowledge Rollups (zk-Rollups) are another Layer-2 solution utilized within the Alemio stack. Unlike Optimistic Rollups, zk-Rollups generate cryptographic proofs that validate off-chain transactions. These proofs, known as SNARKs (Succinct Non-Interactive Arguments of Knowledge), are posted on the Layer-1 chain, ensuring a high level of security. Zk-Rollups allow Alemio to maintain scalability while preserving the privacy and security of user transactions, making them ideal for sensitive DeFi applications.

State Channels

Alemio also incorporates state channels for certain DeFi interactions, particularly in high-frequency, low-value transactions. State channels allow users to conduct multiple off-chain transactions that are only finalized on-chain when users close the channel. This approach is highly efficient for applications like decentralized gaming, micropayments, and certain DeFi operations, drastically reducing on-chain transaction costs.

Sidechains

Alemio employs sidechains to manage specific, resource-intensive processes. Sidechains run in parallel to the main blockchain and handle transactions independently, ensuring that the main network remains uncluttered. Alemio’s sidechains are fully interoperable with the Layer-1 main chain, enabling assets to be transferred seamlessly between the main chain and sidechains without sacrificing security or speed.
